what, why, when, & who, other w's are irrevelant

Pictures have always been a way of capturing memories and preserving them in a solid form. For me, photographs hold not only the image but also the emotions and thought processes of that time. Often the visual picture can be retained but these other pieces of memory fall away without some permanent reminder.

This site is, first and formost, a place to log and keep track of photographs I have taken over the years in a chronological manner. However, as the photographs here have been posted in various other locations online, I found that my person photo log should have some kind of quirk to it. The system I have constructed in difficult to navigate and vauge in its methods, but this is because it is a way of connecting the photos through my own memories of them. Thus, this is certainly not the place to come for those desiring a quick visual impulse. Only those who are willing to play with me a bit and have a bit of time on their hands to work out the puzzle should be attempting to sift through the log. The site itself is also not friendly to most browsers - you're intended to scroll down and across in order to view everything. Each page has been organized in a particular manner to accent the photos presented, and rather than splitting them appart for easier viewing I chose instead to keep them grouped by time and theme.

A brief note about the photos chosen. I absolutely do not claim to be a stellar photographer, but it is a hobby I enjoy when I manage to drag my camera out. The photos featured on this site are the not quite stunning, nor are they even the best shots I've ever taken. They just happen to be the ones that elicit a strong response for me, so they get to be on this site that is for my memory.

The puzzle itself should present its form after a bit of playing around. Each page has a link forward and a link backward located somewhere on the images presented. The shapes of the links are odd, and will have something to do with the nature of the photos on that page. It is possible to move a cursor around until it finds a link, but the purpose is for you to find the part of the image most striking visually, or meaningful otherwise. Good luck!

For those who truely do not have the patience to find the links, the circle above will lead you to a listing of all the pages of photos on the site.

For technical purposes, all photos, graphics, codes and text on this site have been created by Molly C. Burtenshaw and are ©2000-2008. Earlier photos were taken with a film camera and then scanned to the computer, but most are digital in origin. Most of the recent photos were taken with a Digital Rebel EOS camera. Molly is a student of St. Mary's College of Maryland, and is currently working towards B.A.'s in Studio Art and Religious Studies.
